Sounds like great PR but this article is also a bit unclear. Seems to imply that only open source projects are eligible for domain names. From what I can gather from your web site, this is not the case.

The Press Release uses the wrong language, painting with a broad stroke those who invest in generic domains, as well as squatter.

Cybersquatters are those who, in a practice now made illegal I may add, register domains that are close to or equivalent of trade marks of companies, and then attempt to profit from the good will of the trademark.

Domain investors and speculators are those who buy and sell generic domains, which are a publicly and privately traded commodity.

For you to label all domainers as squatters is disingenuous, and for someone who should know better.

In a sense, you are piggybacking on a valuable industry with purpose based marketing of your do-good generosity in sharing domains with the open source community. Which is fine. You get to feel generous and become famous, while the community benefits.

At the same time, please don't call the very people who made the commodity that you can now generously donate to others bad names.
